We've introduced AI credits across all plans. This hasn't changed your experience. Your plan includes an allocation that matches your typical AI usage.

We've also expanded what's possible with additional usage options, ensuring greater flexibility for your content operations.

This system gives you more control, transparency, and flexibility over your AI usage, so you can focus on creating, not managing limits. At the same time, we're introducing Claude by Anthropic as new AI options alongside Gemini by Google and GPT by Open AI, giving you more options to power your content. Here's everything you need to know about AI Credits, usage, and your AI provider options.

What Are AI Credits?

AI Credits are a monthly allowance for using Storyblok’s AI features.

Each plan comes with a base AI credit allowance. You can track usage directly in AI Settings. Credits reset monthly (calendar month), and unused credits do not roll over.

If you regularly use AI for multiple languages, automation, or large-scale projects, you can easily extend your allowance with additional credits — all visible and managed directly in your dashboard. No hidden fees. No surprises.

How many AI Credits do I get?

Here’s a quick overview of AI credits and features allocations per plan:

AI Credits are based on the number of “tokens” an AI model processes. Tokens are small pieces of text (or, in some cases, image data). As a reference, around 100 tokens is roughly 75 English words.

You use credits for both:

• Input tokens (your prompts, data, context, images, etc.)
• Output tokens (the AI’s response)

What Uses Credits?

AI Credits measure how much you use Storyblok’s AI-powered features, like translations, content generation, SEO improvements, and more.

Here's a breakdown of which AI features are included in each plan:

To give you a sense of how token usage varies by task:

• Translation and rewriting are roughly one-to-one (you input text, you get about the same amount out)
• Content generation typically produces more text than you provide
• Summarization produces much less than you provide
• Image-based tasks consume more credits, because image data is heavier than text

Adding more context increases input usage, but usually improves output quality and consistency.

When You Reach Your Limits

Growth, Growth+:

• Exceed your base credits? Additional packs are automatically charged up to your plan’s maximum.
• Once the maximum is reached, AI features pause and reactivate automatically the next month.
• Notifications are sent at 80%, 100%, and maximum usage.

Premium, Elite:

• AI credits are part of your annual contract quota.
• Additional credits require a contract amendment through your Customer Success Manager.
• AI features remain restricted until new credits are approved.

Starter:

• Users can increase their AI credits by upgrading their plan in the subscription settings.

Claude and Gemini: Your New AI Options

Storyblok now supports Claude by Anthropic and Gemini by Google as an alternative AI provider to ChatGPT by OpenAI. As we continue expanding our AI provider lineup, additional options may be introduced as sub-processors to give you greater flexibility and choice.

Since each new provider is introduced as a sub-processor, how you gain access depends on your plan.

Growth, Growth+:

New providers become available immediately upon accepting our updated AI Terms and Data Processing Agreement. If you take no action, newly introduced providers will be automatically enabled after a 60-day notice period. During that window, you can:

• accept the updated terms and start using the new provider
• disable AI features entirely
• continue using your current provider only.

Consent is logged automatically when enabling AI features.

Premium, Elite:

New providers are only enabled upon request through your Customer Success Manager, and require explicit consent via contract amendment. New organizations can include consent directly in their contracts for immediate access.

Starter:

Users can access additional AI providers by upgrading their plan in the subscription settings.

The cost of high-performance AI infrastructure has grown significantly. Rather than raising subscription prices for everyone, we’ve chosen a usage-based model that ensures you only pay for what you actually use.
